Meet Your Hosts

Ali Abrahimia

Ali Abrahimia

Host & Curator

Ali is a self-made entrepreneur who built and sold a U.S.-based company after 13 years in business. After years of success, he hit a point many people never talk about—burnout, disconnection, and a desire for something more real.

Instead of continuing down the same path, he made a bold decision: leave the U.S. and start over on the coast of Nicaragua.

What began as a personal reset turned into something much bigger.

He designed and built The Flamingo Experience as a place that blends nature, comfort, and intentional living—drawing from his background in business, design, and human performance.

Today, Ali hosts guests not just as a property owner, but as a guide—offering insight into lifestyle, business, and what it actually takes to build a life you don’t need a vacation from.

Franny Kalhary

Franny Kalhary

Host & Realtor

Frannie brings local knowledge, cultural insight, and real estate expertise that most travelers never get access to.

As a Nicaraguan native and licensed real estate professional, she helps guests understand not just where they are—but what’s possible here.

From navigating local culture to identifying investment opportunities, Frannie bridges the gap between curiosity and confidence.

Together, Ali and Frannie offer a rare combination: international perspective and deep local connection.

Super lovely time in Remanso at Flamingo Experience. I absolutely recommend. The stay was lovely. I think both my partner and I found it to exceed our expectations! Ali was super helpful, creating a great vibe here. He was very welcoming and communicative and creates an awesome atmosphere for the guests. Really nothing to complain about! Rooms were clean, well-kept, with incredible views. The food was definitely a highlight. Their chefs and team make delicious meals and drinks off their menu. Also, bonus points for the digital guide! We found some recommendations in there (like the hike to the secret beach) to be highlights of our trip. Ali clearly has put a lot of love and effort into the Flamingo Experience, and it shows in every aspect. Would absolutely stay again. Oh, the surf was also fun, and you can't really be any closer to the wave!

The view is absolutely jaw dropping. The rooms were absolutely lovely and by far the most luxurious we had during our trip to Nicaragua. The staff was so helpful and friendly. And all of the owners recommendations for food and activities were absolutely 10/10. We loved everything about it.

We had such a great time at Flamingo Experience! The view from the house was breathtaking, the beach was so relaxing and there was always something to do, we loved using the boogie boards, and karaoke night was definitely one of the highlights. The in house chef was amazing, the service from the entire staff was great, and a special shoutout to Marlon for making the best sangrias! Ali and Frania were amazing hosts. They made everyone feel welcome and were always around if you needed anything, which made our stay even better. We can’t wait to go back in Playa Remanso🌴🍹

What an unbelievable location looking right down the beach. Ridiculous sunsets and the sounds of waves rolling in. |The rooms were simple and stylin. Could wake up slow and watch the waves from any room. |Food was on point, from unbelievably fresh breakfasts (eggs, fruit, avocado, etc.) A chef rolls in at 1 and can pretty much make whatever you'd like. Mahi, sushi, filet, chicken.. whatever.|Hosts were helpful and made it fun! Truly relaxing endeavor!!

Really cool place to spend some time in to relax. You feel very removed from everything which is exactly what we needed! Room is super comfortable and modern, the pool is great and overlooks the beach. The beach itself is maybe one min walk?! Also they have a private chef and we had the poke bowls one day which were so good, really fresh and delicious flavours. I would say this place is on the expensive side but great as a treat for 3/4 days.

The positives: The views - stunning! tea selection at the self-serve bar - awesome, clean drinking water and ice! comfortable bed, access to the beach, very quick laundry!, quiet at night, neighboring beach (20 min walk) is really nice and empty; easy arrival, thanks to co-host Frania. Unfortunately, the overall vibe was quite off during our stay, where I would give it 3.5 overall pleasantness/comfort. Construction next door starts at 7am, the room blocks an impressive amount of noise, but is not magical. There is a lot of ongoing construction on that beach in general and the beach is quite busy (but not so, if you are used to Waikiki or some other overbuilt beach/city atmosphere, where you and neighbors see/hear each other's balcony party/family drama)... Unlike many other guests, we unfortunately didn't find Ali very friendly, a few times I asked for pointers on surfing and the road, I felt I was putting him out... There were occasional glimpses of friendliness, helpfulness and even kindness, but the impression was that he was either done hosting or maybe very affected by his recent injury, as "don't bother me" attitude was swiftly back. Ali was almost always at the common/pool area, when we were using it... Frania, was nice to us the whole time.
